The Calgary Hitmen had a strong start and a solid finish on Friday night.
Unfortunately for the struggling squad, that didn’t translate into two points in the Western Hockey League standings.
“It’s the same old story for us right now and we’ve got to change it real soon,” said forward Carsen Twarynski, who scored his seventh goal of the season in the second period. “This is getting unacceptable. We should be winning games and we’re throwing it away with one bad period. It’s something we’ve got to look at and fix right away.”
Despite dominating the first period of Friday night’s game at the Scotiabank Saddledome against the Moose Jaw Warriors, the Hitmen (8-11-2) wound up on the losing end of a 5-4 score in front of 9,945 fans on Novice Minor Hockey Night.
