At least a couple of Calgary Flames have inside track on NHL Awards hardware

Viva Las Vegas.

As the NHL descends on Sin City and commissioner Gary Bettman does his best to pretend an expansion team landing there isn’t as much of a sure thing as free drinks at the blackjack table, up next is awards night.

A quartet of Calgary Flames are up for honours — yeah, it’s been a while since that happened — and a couple of them are the front-runners during Wednesday’s soiree.

The last time a Flames player won a major regular award based on voting by the media or general managers was 2005-06 when Miikka Kiprusoff claimed the Vezina Trophy.
