It’s been an off-season of upheaval for the Calgary Canucks.
The AJHL hockey club fired head coach Ryan Barrett in July after a disappointing post-Christmas collapse, and the club made multiple changes in the boardroom while long-time president Ken Bracko died in August.
“(It’s been) pretty close to surreal,” new head coach and GM Jay Pylypuik said of the off-season. “Anything and everything is completely different, for the most part.”
The start of a new hockey season, coupled with the off-ice changes, renews hope for the club and affords it the opportunity to create a better narrative from a summer worth of discontent.
