LOS ANGELES — Jaromir Jagr said it was “special” and Jonathan Toews said it was “surreal.”
Alex Ovechkin went one step further and called it “probably the best award I have in my life.”
It was not exactly hyperbole.
When the NHL decided to compile a Top 100 list of its greatest players, many assumed they would grab mostly from the Hockey Hall of Fame.
That was true for a majority of the selections. But the league also recognized six potential Hall of Fame players in Jagr, Toews, Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, Patrick Kane and Duncan Keith, who are still playing.
