What’s Lanny been up to since scoring the Stanley Cup winning goal in 89?
After playing nearly seven full seasons with the Calgary Flames, Lanny McDonald capped off a 16-year career by scoring the Stanley Cup winning goal against the Montreal Canadiens to help the Flames win their first and only Stanley Cup in 1989. That summer, McDonald retired from the game as a player on August 28, 1989 despite receiving an offer to play with another team the next season.
His interest in the business world led Lanny to take a position as the Flames Vice President in Charge of Corporate and Community Affairs and later in 1992 he became the Vice President of Marketing.
