89 Champs: Where Are They Now: Jiri Hrdina

Hrdina played parts of 5 seasons in the NHL and he made the most of them.

Jiri Hrdina is either very lucky or knows how to pick his spots. The 6 foot centre spent 10 seasons playing in Czechoslovakia before making the jump to the NHL. Hrdina arrived in Calgary for the 1987-88 season, but only appeared in 9 games. The 1988-89 season was his breakout year in the NHL. He played in 70 regular season games and poured in 22 goals and added 32 assists. Despite his mammoth regular season, he only played in 4 games during the playoffs, but did get the first Stanley Cup Championship of his career.
