Jamie Macoun joined the Flames by way of Ohio State University in 1983. Macoun would play 9 years with the Flames as a valued member of their defence core. He totaled 586 regular season games with the Flames and another 84 playoff games while wearing the Flaming C. Macoun was a major player in both Cup runs the Flames had in 1986 and 1989.
In his final season with the Flames Macoun on the ice 37 times before being a piece in the 10 player trade between the Flames and Maple Leafs. Macoun would spend 9 more season in the NHL with the Maple Leafs and Red Wings, but would never have the personal success that he had in Calgary.
