Gary Roberts spent 22 years in the NHL, 10 of them as a member of the Calgary Flames. Roberts was a key member of the 1988-89 Stanley Cup team where he tallied 12 points in 22 games helping Calgary bring home the franchise’s first and only Stanley Cup Championship to date. Roberts will forever be remembered for suffering a severe neck injury during the 1993-94 season that required 2 surgeries in 1995. Roberts saw limited action in 1996 and at the end of the season he announced his retirement.
After seeing a specialist that off season and getting his neck corrected, the Flames traded Roberts to Carolina and his 10 year career with Calgary was over.
