Colin Patterson was an undrafted player that the Flames signed in 1983. In his 7 years in Calgary, Patterson played in 416 regular season games and registered 187 points. Like many of the Flames, the 1988-89 playoffs were the best of his career. In 22 games Patterson had 13 points and was a +10.
Patterson played one more season for the Flames in 1989-90 and then spent 2 fairly pedestrian seasons with the Buffalo Sabres. He left the NHL after the 92-93 season and tried his hand in Europe with HK Olimpija Ljubljana of the Slovenian Ice Hockey League.
