Although USC Trojans’ athletic director Lynn Swann has sworn by head coach Clay Helton, the coach knows that major changes need to be made to the coaching staff to placate the rabid fanbase. Helton’s first move was to not retain offensive coordinator Tee Martin. To replace Martin, Helton went big.
Helton nabbed Kliff “really hope his middle name isn’t Kurt” Kingsbury—former head coach of the Texas Tech Red Raiders—to be the next USC offensive coordinator.
Kingsbury has three seasons of experience as offensive coordinator, dating back to to 2010–11 as the co–offensive coordinator of the Houston Cougars.
