Tony Gonzalez, who spent three seasons with the Bears as a football tight end and a basketball forward, headlines the eight-person Cal Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2015, announced Thursday.
Before a pro career in which he caught 1,242 passes (the second-most receptions in NFL history), Gonzalez was a tight end for the Bears from 1994 through ’96. The highlight of his Cal basketball career came in the 1997 NCAA Tournament when he scored 23 points in a win over Villanova that put the Bears in the Sweet 16.
