The weeks following regular-season finales often mean one of two possibilities for college football coaches: getting fired or getting contacted about other jobs.
Tony Franklin was pleased to land on the latter end this go-around. Last Thursday, he interviewed for Texas’ offensive coordinator opening. The Longhorns introduced former Tulsa co-offensive coordinator Sterlin Gilbert as their new OC on Monday.
“I’ve had a tremendous amount of respect for (head coach) Charlie (Strong) for a long time, and we had a conversation,” Franklin said.
