The Bears trended in slow starts followed by fast finishes over the first two games. They broke that trend against North Texas but... fizzled out as the game went on, winning on a Cal defensive stop on 4th and 15 on the North Texas 30 yard line. The first quarter alleviated many fears of the fan base and maybe hinted at the offense turning a page on their struggles. The second quarter and beyond descended into chaos as Cal almost blew a 20-0. Could it have been better? Absolutely, but did it follow the trend of Cal games so far?
