Cal basketball has landed their highest seed in modern NCAA tournament history! California's No. 4 seed is the highest since the tournament expanded to 64. Its previous high was a No. 5 seed, done twice in 1994 and 1997. The Bears lost in the first round the first time around, but advanced to the Sweet 16 the first time around!
Cal finished amazingly with the 14th best overall ranking by the committee, which is way above their national polls. That also jives with the preseason polls...where the Bears were ranked 14th!
