California linebacker Devante Downs will miss the rest of the season with a lower body injury he suffered in Friday's win against Washington State.
Through seven games, Downs was without question the Bears' best player. He has been named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week twice this season and leads the team in tackles (65), interceptions (2), sacks (3), forced fumbles (2) and fumble recoveries (2).
"Really feel for Devante because the guy's been a warrior and worked extremely hard," coach Justin Wilcox said. "So you really feel for him.
