Former Cal safety Damariay Drew has been readmitted to UC Berkeley and could walk-on to the football team this season, according to associate athletics director Wes Mallette.
Drew, who is from Livermore, missed the 2014 school year at Cal after being charged with assault for allegedly attacking a fellow student and kicking his dog near the UC Berkeley campus after telling him he was going to beat him up.
Drew’s attorney, Darryl Stalloworth, told Patch.com that Drew’s conviction was reduced to a misdemeanor after doing community service work, taking anger management classes and attending Butte College in Oroville.
