D.J. Foster far from Arizona State’s only weapon: Bears morning links

Entering this year, opponents figured to craft their game plans around limiting Arizona State’s D.J. Foster. The senior was a preseason candidate for the Maxwell award, given annually to the nation’s top college player.

But Foster’s production has dipped. After becoming the only player in the FBS last year with more than 1,000 rushing yards and 600 receiving yards, the Scottsdale, Ariz., native is third on the team in rushing (278) and receiving (512).

“I think it’s more of a byproduct of having a lot of good skill players,” Cal head coach Sonny Dykes said Tuesday. “When you sit down and look at them, they’ve got really good talent across the board in a lot of different positions.
