Not long after she was named one of the 100 most influential in her sport, California Golden Bears women’s basketball head coach Charmin Smith has been named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Board of Directors. She was appointed as the NCAA Division I West Region Director.
She was also named the Social Justice Task Force Co-Chair.
“I am honored to serve in this capacity,” Smith said in a statement. “I believe wholeheartedly in the racial justice movement sweeping our nation. Collegiate sports is a great place to pilot transformational change. This is a phenomenal group of people that is committed to finding ways to improve our sport generally and more specifically for the black coaches, staff and players that the WBCA serves.
