The Bears are looking for an opening round win at the Cal Classic against local rivals.
Hard to say how good the Gaels are this year - they're 5-2, but the five wins haven't come over anybody especially impressive, and they've lost two straight to Missouri and UC Davis coming into this game. But the Gaels are traditionally one of the stronger mid-major programs in California and they have given Cal tough games in the past, so expect no different today.
This is an important game for Cal - it will robably be a decent win if they get it, and it would set up a good chance for a solid win against Villanova tomorrow.
