The Chronicle has steadily previewed Cal men’s basketball’s 2015-16 season in recent weeks. With the Bears’ opener Friday night against Rice, here are some preseason superlatives:
Team MVP
Tyrone Wallace. With more talent around him, the 6-foot-5, 205-pound senior could experience a dip in production this season. Yet he should still be the Bears’ most valuable player for several key reasons. Wallace will orchestrate the offense, score when necessary and provide a blueprint for underclassmen to follow. How well the freshmen coalesce with the rest of the team will depend largely on the tone he sets for the rest of Cal’s returners.
