Chase Garbers: QB, Corona del Mar Sea Kings (Newport Beach, CA)
Corona del Mar’s streak of 12 consecutive victories came to an end in heart-breaking fashion as they lost the section championship in 36-35 in double-overtime to Sierra Canyon.
Garbers gave it a great effort as he rushed 19 times for 78 yards and three touchdowns. Through the air he completed 20 of 32 passes for 196 yards and one touchdown.
The Sea Kings fell behind by 14 points early in the second quarter, but Garbers capped an impressive late-quarter drive with a two-yard rushing touchdown to halve the deficit with just 13 seconds left in the first half.
