The last time Cal and Texas met, current Bears quarterback Jared Goff was still choosing a college, Jeff Tedford was head coach and Zach Maynard was holding the reins as signal-caller.
Four years later, the Bears are hoping for a different outcome as they prepare to face the Longhorns this Saturday at the Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Cal has not faced Texas since the 2011 Holiday Bowl — in which the Bears lost, 21-10 — and have yet to secure a win over the Longhorns in program history. This weekend’s game will be the first time the two teams have met in the regular season since 1970.
