Some notes regarding the 2017 Cal football schedule.
- Cal will be playing two Power 5 opponents in non-conference play (at North Carolina for the season opener, Ole Miss at home two weeks later). I believe that USC is the only other school in the conference to have that difficult a start.
- Cal does not have a bye week until week 11. That seems preposterously late in the season.
- Cal does have two short weeks to prepare for games: A Friday night matchup at home against Washington State, and a Friday game the day after Thanksgiving at UCLA.
