Bears win with defense, holding an opponent to single digits for the first time since Oregon State in 2011
On a day that Bret Bielema learned that SEC speed is no match for Toledo Rocket speed, Cal did something that seemed unthinkable a year ago. The defense picked up the slack for an offense that sputtered a bit, and led the Bears to a 35-7 victory over San Diego State. While I find it difficult to call an offensive performance uneven when Jared Goff completes 70% of his passes, Daniel Lasco gains 100+ yards, and there is 100 yard receiver, a lot of that came late in the second quarter and beyond.
