With only 9 games left in the regular season, all against extremely tough opponents (Stanford, TCU, and at Arizona who have RPI’s of 10th, 6th, and 15th in the country respectively), Cal Baseball needs to go 6-3 to be postseason eligible (realistically, winning all three remaining series). The extremely young Cal squad has exceeded expectation so far on the year that it is already an accomplishment to be mathematically plausible to make the postseason this late on the year. Nonetheless, nothing would be more satisfying than to take this three game Pac-12 series from rival Stanford.
Cal and Stanford have already met twice this year in non-conference play (down in Stanford to offset the main series being in Berkeley).
