Christian McCaffrey is hardly the only running threat Cal must worry about Saturday.
The 6-foot-4, 225-pound Kevin Hogan is a capable short-yardage option. This year, when facing third-and-shorts, Stanford has leaned heavily on the senior to move the chains.
“He’s a big, strong guy who can run people over and who is probably more effective as a runner than people realize,” Bears head coach Sonny Dykes said Tuesday. “He did the same thing against Oregon. When they need two or three yards in some critical situations, more than likely he’s going to be running the ball.”
Hogan leads active FBS quarterbacks with a school-record 32 wins.
