UT Martin head coach Heath Schroyer yells to his team in the first half of an NCAA college basketball game against Austin Peay at the championship of the Ohio Valley Conference basketball tournament Saturday, March 5, 2016, in Nashville, Tenn.
PROVO — Heath Schroyer is back at BYU — right where he started his Division I coaching career 20 years ago.
Coach Dave Rose announced Thursday that Schroyer has been named the Cougars’ new assistant coach, replacing Terry Nashif, who left the program to pursue business opportunities last month.
Schroyer was originally hired at BYU in 1997 as an assistant under Steve Cleveland on a staff that also included Rose.
