Two of the biggest up-and-coming football names attached to the state of Utah made a key connection during the Polynesian Bowl on Saturday night.
Late in the second quarter of the postseason bowl game, BYU quarterback signee Jacob Conover threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to Orem High wide receiver and USC commit Puka Nacua in the corner of the end zone to lift Team Makai to a 17-0 lead over Team Mauka.
An illegal block on a third-and-7 play put Team Makai into a third-and-22 situation, setting up the score.
Conover rolled left out of the pocket and threw to the corner of the end zone to Nacua, who made the grab as he fell out of bounds while being held.
