With the report coming out yesterday that the Mountain West is looking to expand with Gonzaga and potentially BYU in non-football sports, BYU Athletic Director Tom Holmoe discussed this and other topics Thursday morning on BYU Sports Nation.
Holmoe kept things close to the vest, and was surprised that MWC commissioner Craig Thompson publicly delved into expansion.
“I’m not going to put my stuff out on the table about where we’re at,” Holmoe told BYU Sports Nation. “It’s just best to keep things internal. I’m surprised that Craig Thompson didn’t keep his stuff internal.”
Translation: Holmoe has been talking about moving BYU’s sports programs back to the MWC (likely centered on non-football sports, as the initial report indicated), but doesn’t want anything to be leaked to the public.
