The Utah baseball team took an 8-1 victory over BYU Tuesday night at Smith's Ballpark behind a fine performance by Nolan Stouder, who is not one of the Utes' regular pitchers.
SALT LAKE CITY — A month earlier in Provo, Ute pitcher Nolan Stouder had given up three runs to BYU in relief without even getting an out in a big Ute loss.
Stouder got the start for Utah Tuesday night, just his second of the season and sixth overall, and admitted his outing in Provo “was definitely on my mind.” However Stouder, in what could be his last start of his Ute career, shut down the Cougars as the Utes beat their instate rival 8-1 before 5,440 at Smith’s Ballpark.
