Utah Supreme Court upholds law that escorts must have licenses for each city he or she works in

The Utah Supreme Court handed down a ruling Thursday that upholds a state law requiring escorts and any other sexually oriented businesses to have a license for each city they operate in.

The ruling comes after escort Karlie Kidd challenged the law when she was cited by Salt Lake City police office for not having a license to work in the city. Kidd had a license to work as an escort in Midvale, FOX 13 reports.

Kidd argued the law infringes on her First Amendment and equal protection rights and promote “regulatory overkill.” The court rejected the argument.
