Search crews were combing the northern end of the Great Salt Lake on Sunday after a small plane and its crew were reported missing Friday night.
The Department of Public Safety was looking for the small airplane — a red and white Cessna 172, tail number N4395R — late Sunday morning, according to Box Elder County dispatch.
Pilot Denny Mansell, 71, and passenger Peter Ellis, 74, took off in the plane from Ogden Hinckley Airport about 3:30 p.m. Friday and were heading to the see trains at the Golden Spike National Historic Site, according to the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Office.
