Witnesses have told police that a pedestrian was intentionally jumping into traffic on Cottonwood Heights’ busiest thoroughfare Monday night before he was struck and killed by an SUV.
Cottonwood Heights police initially tweeted that the incident in the 2000 East block of Fort Union Boulevard (about 7000 South) was a hit-and-run. However, a police news release issued Tuesday says the SUV driver called 911 to report the accident while officers were on the scene and that the driver has been cooperating in the investigation.
