On what was already an interesting day in relations between Utah and BYU after it was announced that wide receivers coach Guy Holliday will be leaving Provo for Salt Lake City, the men's basketball part of the rivalry got involved when the Cougars athletic department announced Wednesday afternoon that the Utes won't play in the annual game in 2016.
Naturally, Twitter quickly became a place for supporters of both sides to express their thoughts and feelings on the matter.
Fans and other observers initially reacted with some confusion, as it wasn't immediately clear why Utah removed itself from the game.
