According to a tweet from the Unified Police Department, the shooting occurred near the intersection of 2700 South and 8400 West.
Northbound traffic is shut down on 8400 West from 3100 South to 2700 South, and southbound lanes are blocked off from State Route 201 to 3100 South, according to the Utah Department of Transportation.
Salt Lake City police were investigating the incident and handling media inquiries, following protocol for UPD use of force incidents. More details were not immediately available.
