LAS VEGAS — It appears that BYU will have the services of another running back for the Las Vegas Bowl Saturday against Utah.
Squally Canada, a freshman running back who transferred from Washington State a year ago, has been sitting out due to NCAA transfer rules this season. He has spent the year practicing with the scout team.
Coach Bronco Mendenhall said Wednesday that Canada “from my understanding, will play. We’re preparing like he is. I haven’t received final word yet.”
According to NCAA rules, a transfer must complete a full academic year at the institution before being eligible to compete.
