Moraga, CA — BYU kept within striking distance for most of the night, but faltered down the stretch as St Mary’s pulled away for a 75-62 win.
BYU or the referees couldn’t stop Jock Landale the whole night, as the St Mary’s big man finished with 32 points and 14 boards. BYU would periodically double Landale, but St Mary’s responded with timely threes to keep BYU from mounting a comeback.
BYU trailed 33-30 at the break, and started the second half with a 5-0 run to take a brief 2 point. However, BYU could never seem to string together stops and points at the same time, which prevented BYU from truly cutting into the Gaels leads.
