Daniel Summerhays fired an impressive 4-under-par 67 on Friday to highlight Utah’s trio of local competitors in the second round of the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.
All three local players finished their rounds before rain forced suspension of play.
The second-round effort by the Farmington resident who grew up playing Oakridge Country Club vaulted him into a tie with Lehi’s Tony Finau for 23rd place at 1-over par heading into Saturday’s third round. Both safely made the cut.
Meanwhile, Provo’s Riverside Country Club assistant professional Chris Moody improved on his 10-over opening round with a 7-over round Friday for a total of 17-over, not good enough to stay for the weekend.
