2006 was a great year for BYU football. The Cougars went 11-2 en route to a 38-8 shellacking of Oregon in the Pioneer Purevision Las Vegas Bowl.
The Cougars’ two losses came by a combined 10 points, dropping games to Arizona and No. 23 Boston College.
On November 25, No. 21 BYU football went north to Salt Lake City for a showdown with the Utah Utes. The Utes were 7-4 at that point (they’d go on to finish 8-5 and pick up a win in the Armed Forces Bowl).
Just like so many Holy Wars before it, the game went down to the wire.
