Snap Judgments: Defense, special teams make up for offensive deficiencies in BYU's win over San Jose State

Final score: BYU 17, San Jose State 16

Offense: two thumbs down

In my pre-snap read for this game, I wrote, "Looking at the numbers, I expect BYU will be able to move the ball and score points against this Spartan defense. If they don't, it will likely be because the loss of three starting offensive linemen was greater than anticipated." Well, other than its first two drives of the game, BYU did not move the ball very well and they certainly didn't score points. And the reason was precisely the offensive line. Not only were the Cougars missing three starters to injury, but stud center Tejan Koroma was suspended.
