A Lehi man escaped injury when he crashed his small plan on New Bingham Highway near the West Jordan Soccer Complex on Tuesday morning.
The 42-year-old man, whose name was not released, was practicing take-offs and landings at the South Valley Regional Airport at about 11 a.m. when the plane experienced mechanical problems, according to West Jordan police. The pilot was forced to land on the road near 7265 S. 4450 West.
The plane hit the ground hard in the eastbound lane of New Bingham Highway, spun around and ended up in the westbound lane, but did not collide with any cars on the ground.
