Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch said Saturday that the attack on a synagogue in his hometown of Pittsburgh on the Jewish holy day is a reminder of the evil in this world — and the need to fight it with courage and love.
“The hatred in this man’s heart has no place in a society founded on the ideal of religious freedom,” Hatch said in a statement, calling the attack a “horrific act of violence.”
Eleven people were killed when a gunman opened fire on the Tree of Life synagogue congregation during a Saturday baby naming ceremony.
