A Salt Lake City man found guilty of illegal discharge of a weapon for firing at a burglar fleeing his mother-in-law’s vacant home was sentenced Friday to probation.
Glen Wayne Decker, 53, was staking out the house, located near 1100 E. Harvard Ave. (about 1150 South), with his wife on the evening of April 27, 2016, according to court documents. The home had been burglarized the night before.
They left the backdoor, which had recently been kicked in by intruders, unsecured. As the couple lay in wait, armed with revolvers, they saw flashlights illuminate the dark home at about 10 p.
