After the first 30 minutes of Saturday’s road game against the Colorado Rapids, Real Salt Lake looked like it would repeat its performance from last season when it drubbed the Rapids by a six-goal margin.
But Colorado would have none of it. The Rapids tied the game early in the second half, only to have Real hit right back. In what turned into a back-and-forth affair at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, RSL escaped with a 3-2 victory to snap their two-game losing streak.
RSL’s two opening goals came just two minutes apart. Albert Rusnák converted his third penalty of the season in the 25th minute after Sebastian Saucedo drew a foul in the 18-yard box.
