Protest planned at BYU-Idaho as students seek changes in how the Honor Code is enforced

Rexburg, Idaho • Students at Brigham Young University’s Idaho campus are planning to protest Wednesday afternoon, seeking reform in how administrators enforce the Honor Code.

It’s one of two protests planned this week on campuses in Rexburg and Provo. The student reaction comes after a renewed criticism that the private university — which is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints — cares more about punishing students who violate the religious rules rather than helping them.

Protest organizer Grey Woodhouse, who was expelled from the Idaho university for violating the Honor Code last spring, said the students and alumni are not seeking to do away with the university’s Honor Code.
