A 53-year-old man died after he was struck by a vehicle while crossing Redwood Road on Friday morning.

The crash happened at about 7 a.m. as the man was crossing the road near 6200 South in Taylorsville, according to Unified Police Detective Ken Hansen.

The pedestrian was not in a crosswalk, Hansen said, and was crossing against a green light when he was struck by a northbound vehicle and tossed against a UTA bus that was stopped.

Hansen said investigators believe the man was running across the road to possibly catch the bus.

The man was taken to a local hospital, according to police, where he died from his injuries.
