Police issue a ‘shelter in place’ warning in Herriman and Riverton due to shooter at large

The Unified Police Department is searching for a man who shot a victim and shot at officers Saturday morning in Herriman.

Due to the danger of the situation, UPD has asked that residents of Herriman and Riverton residing between Mountain View Corridor and Rose Crest Road and Blackridge Reservoir and 13400 South stay in whatever building they are currently occupying, UPD said on Twitter.

The suspect’s car was found crashed near Blackridge Reservoir, according to police. The suspect is believed to be a white male with facial hair wearing dark clothing.

Residents are asked to keep their doors locked and call police if they see anything suspicious.
