Salt Lake City • The Pleasant Grove High School football team beat the East Leopards 27-21 on Friday and advanced to the quarterfinal round of the UHSAA Class 6A state championships.
On third-and-11 with under 8 minutes left in the first quarter, East senior running back Charlie Vincent broke free and scored a 68-yard rushing touchdown for a 6-0 lead.
After forcing Pleasant Grove to punt, East fumbled the kickoff and the Vikings recovered the ball at the 10-yard line. Vikings senior quarterback Jake Jensen threw a 10-yard pass to senior running back Dayne Christiansen in the corner of the end zone, which he caught.
