Ogden • Ogden officials are considering extending portions of two city streets named after civil rights leaders after recent and renewed public interest.
The Standard-Examiner reported Wednesday that Ogden officials renamed a portion of 24th Street after black civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. in 1995 and renamed a part of 30th Street after labor leader and Latino civil rights activist Cesar Chavez in 2003.
The city council is now considering extending those honorary designations by several blocks.
Council documents show residents were informed that no formal address changes will be necessary.
