Utah played No. 6 Nevada almost evenly for more than half of Saturday's game, but the unbeaten Wolf Pack pulled away to an 86-71 victory at the Huntsman Center.
Senior guard Sedrick Barefield scored 33 points for Utah (6-6), but Nevada (13-0) asserted itself in the second half as senior forward Caleb Martin scored 25 of his 33 points after halftime.
Martin scored Nevada's first nine points of the second half during a 13-3 run and later contributed to a 7-0 spurt after Barefield's 3-pointer cut Nevada's lead to 53-49 with 13:17 remaining.
Barefield scored 18 of Utah's first 28 points, a remarkable statistic considering he didn't start the game.
